And a good time was had by all ...

Tonight for dinner we had company … which is somewhat rare here in Bloomington … and yet it's always a time to celebrate!

One of neighbors and a co-worker of Bill's, Laura and her 4th grade daughter, Hannah were in the midst of having a girls weekend with Chris and Ethan at Boy Scout Camp overnight.  We invited them for dinner so the girls had time to play and we could all catch up!

It was simple really - burgers and mac n cheese - the good kind, that's homemade with bacon, garlic and thyme.  And they thoughtfully brought Sugar Mama Cupcakes for dessert.

The girls had so much fun enjoying Ellie's space in the basement - each taking a side on the easel and drawing, playing bean bag toss, figuring out the Crazy Loom for bracelets … and answering questions from Hannah's Mad Libs-type book.

It was so amazing to see them get along so well.  Unlike other 'play dates' Ellie has had, this was just two friends who enjoyed being together.  They giggled, and sang the same songs - and when they packed up to go home Ellie waved from the doorway!  She turned to me and said, "Mommy, Hannah is my best friend!  I have so much fun with her!"

At that moment I said a little prayer that she continues to find people in her life that fill her up.  Once that make her sorry it's over at the end of the day, and fill her with anticipation for the next time they will be together.  She is now understanding the true meaning of friendship - and I'm so glad Hannah is one of those friends!
