"When you are in a relationship, you are aware that it might end. You might grow apart, find someone else, simply fall out of love. But a friendship isn't a zero-sum game, and as such, you assume that it will last forever, especially an old friendship. You take its permanence for granted, which might be the very thing so dear about it." ~ something borrowed by emily griffin
When you find yourself in unfamiliar territory without your friends close-by, it reminds you of the value of each and every one of them. I've spent time lately catching up with friends by phone, card, email and most wonderfully in person. These friends may recognize themselves listed here below:
The friend who has shared my love of coffee
The friend who has offered terrific mom advice
The friend who has shared a wonderful bottle of red with me
The friend who has constantly encouraged me through it all
The friend who always greets me with a big hug and asks about Ellie
The friend who, above all, makes me laugh, feel smart and shares my love of hockey.
