Chris Medina - What Are Words

Miracles can happen. That's what this American Idol contestant lives on a daily basis. And that has nothing to do with his aspiring music career. It refers to the love of his life. And now that story has been captured in this amazing song/video.

"Chris Medina left ‘American Idol’ earlier this week after the judges felt he wasn’t among the best 24 contestants on the hit FOX show. The exit prompted judge Jennifer Lopez to erupt in a flood of tears during the emotional exit interview. Now, Medina has released a song based on his emotional story called ‘What Are Words’ on the ‘Idol’ 19 Recordings/Interscope imprint. The track was written and produced only a few days ago especially for Medina to perform by acclaimed hitmaking songwriter-producer Rodney Jerkins (Michael Jackson, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Mary J. Blige). The song is now available for download at iTunes. A video, shot this past weekend, just premiered on AOL.com. A 26-year-old barista from Illinois, Medina captured the hearts of viewers for more than simply his vocal talent. His story of becoming the primary caregiver to his fiancĂ©e, Juliana Ramos, who was severely injured in a car accident just months before they were scheduled to wed, won him fans around the country. One of those touched by the story was Jerkins, who was so inspired that he penned ‘What Are Words’ for Medina to record earlier this week. “To go from a mass audition in Milwaukee to the ‘American Idol’ stage in Hollywood and then to record an original song by and for Rodney Jerkins has been an amazing journey not just for me but for Juliana,” said Medina. “To be able to work in the studio with someone of his stature was a dream come true.” Added Jerkins: “When I heard the story of Chris and Juliana, the words and music just flowed. Sometimes a song is more than a song and that’s really true with ‘What Are Words’.”

Happy Birthday to Daddy!

Ellie and her 'birthday' Daddy!
Blowing out the 5 candles
Strawberry Butterscotch cake with Buttercream frosting
Ellie in the driver's seat!
This one was like The Price is Right wheel
She won 1000 tickets on her very first spin!!

Happy Birthday to Daddy!
Ellie and I took Bill to Dave & Buster's for lunch and a few arcade games. It was nearly to Richmond, in the Short Pump area. Of course a trip to Short Pump wouldn't be complete without a bit of shopping .. so I quickly found a couple pair of shoes for the cruise at DSW!

We brought home many trinkets from all the 'tickets' at Dave and Buster's. Ellie loved it!

After we came home Bill napped while Ellie and I made his birthday cake! Since we'd had such a big lunch, we just had shrimp cocktail for dinner .. and cake for dessert!

The Year of the Rabbit

THE YEAR OF THE RABBIT, 2011
02/03/2011 - 01/22/2012 (Metal)

The history of the Chinese Zodiac is very interesting! It is said that Buddha invited all of the animals in the world to join him for the New Year celebrations, but only 12 animals bothered to turn up. As a great reward, Buddha named a year after each one of them and they actually run in the order that the animals arrived to celebrate with Buddha, starting with the rat and ending with the last guest, the pig.
The Chinese believe that those born during a year of a particular animal would inherit some of the good and bad personality traits of that animal.
Also, each Chinese year is influenced by whatever animal it falls in. The Year of The Rabbit begins on February 3rd 2011. Most Rabbit years are quiet, positive and inspiring and 2011 looks to be heading in this direction – a refreshing change after the fast-moving and quite dramatic Year of the Tiger. Family, diplomacy and personal development will all be highlighted in 2011. Once again alternative sources of energy and green living will be under the spotlight. The arts and culture sector of society will very busy producing amazing works of art and staging important exhibitions throughout the year. Love, romance and family life are well-starred, with a renewed appreciation of loved ones and friends. Overall, it should be a fun and relatively peaceful year. Even though aggression, violence and war zones will still be in evidence, the Chinese Rabbit year favours peaceful solutions and diplomacy, so there will be a feeling that all is not lost and that hope is still very much alive.

White Deer

Bill & Ellie were on their way to the pediatrician today .. she was running a fever of 103 .. diagnosed as a virus .. and she's resting comfortably! Back to my story ... on their way to the doctor they saw a WHITE DEER!

They continued to talk about it when they got home so I looked up what it meant!

The fact that you were able to see this very powerful sign – the white deer – is a message that you are on a path of growth and expansion that will lead you in a direction beyond your wildest dreams. The message of the white deer is one of “get ready.”

Making her own picture wall!

Ellie decided she was going to take all the 'random' (her new favorite word) photos in the basket and use post-it notes to hang them in the hallway. She added her name to every post-it and was VERY proud of her wall!
